Ashtapadiyattam, the unique art form, at Bangalore

Ashtapadiyattam, the centuries old traditional art form is back to stage.
Kalasagar, the institution promoting the traditional art forms of Kerala is presenting the unique art form to the art lovers on 23 August 2014. The event will be showcased at Prestige Shantiniketen, ITPL Main Road, Whiteifield, Bangalore, India from 07.30 pm to 10.00 pm.
The dance drama is based on the classic Geethagovindam by Jayadeva. The whole play is conceptualized and choreographed by Late Kalamandalam Krishnankutty Poduval.


Kalamandalam Krishnankutty Poduval, the chenda maestero, had done many research works on this age - old art form.He presented Ashtapadiyattam in few stages and wished to rejuvenate the art form. Kalasagar at Kavalappara, Palakkad Dt in Kerala is an institution in memory of the great exponent of percussion, Krishnankutty Poduval. The institution is working for the revival and uplift of the ancient art form. They started their initial venture in the year 2013 by presenting Ashtapadiyattam before the audience at Kerala Kalamandalam, the deemed university of Art and Culture at Cheruthuruthy, Kerala.
