Annual Thunchan Festival at Tirur

The annual Thunchan Festival, the festival of literature, art and culture began at Tirur, Malappuram Dt (Kerala, India) on 13th February 2016.

The festival organised by Thunjan Memorial Trust has literary seminars, talks, discussions on various subjects by eminent writers, scholars and contributors from India. It also include art and cultural programmes from all over India.The four day festival from 13-16 February 2016 is conducted at Thunchan Parambu , a cultural and research centre in memory of Thunchath Ezhuthachan, at Tirur, Malappuram Dt.



This year Thunchan Festival will present National Seminar, South Indian Poets Meet, Book Fair, Talks, Recitals, Competitions, Cultural Programs - Bharatanatyam, Kuchipudi, Classical Music Concert, Odissi etc. The festival was inaugurated on 13 February 2016 by writer and former diplomat Gopalkrishna Gandhi. On Feb 14th, the second day, there was a grand procession carrying the iron stylus with which Ezhuthachan wrote his texts on palm leaves.

13 Feb (Saturday):
