Preparations for Peruvanam- Aarattupuzha Pooram Started

'Kodimaram Naattal', the ritual of installation of the flag pole to hoist the festival flag for Peruvanam- Aarattupuzha Pooram, the temple festival, was organaised on 23rd February 2016,Tuesday. This is supposed to be the first formal function of the Pooram, the temple festival.

The direction of the flag pole was confirmed by putting the stick, called as 'Vadi Eriyal'. The arecanut tree for the flag pole was brought from from Menath House, the traditional home in the desam (the place). The Village Carpenter, Sri.Sivan  cut the tree and was brought to the temple. After hoisting the flag pole, pooram was declared officially by the authorities (called 'Poora Vilambaram').  Many people from the village and the neighbouring villages attended the function.

Peruvanam- Aarattupuzha Pooram is one of the most significant poorams held at Thrissur district of Kerala . The seven day festival with colorful events, caparisoned elephants, panchvadyam, nadaswaram, melam etc will take place from 19-30 March 2016.
