'Oru Piranalinte Ormmakkayi', the 92nd birth anniversary of Kalamandalam Krishnankutty Poduval, the genius in the percussion - Chenda, will be conducted on 28th May 2016 at the Koothambalam of Kerala Kalamandalam. The event is organised by Kalasagar, an outstanding institution founded by Kalamandalam Krishnankutty Poduval promoting the traditional art forms of Kerala. As part of this, Kalasagar will be conducting honoring ceremony & performances in traditional art forms .
The celebrations will be inaugurated by Dr. K Jayakumar, Vice Chancellor of Malayalam Sarvakalasala (University) and presided by Dr. M C Dileepkumar, Vice Chancellor of Kerala Kalamandalam. The programme will commence at 5.30 p.m.

On this day, Kalasagar Award 2016 will be presented to the artistes in the field of Kathakali – Vesham, Music, Chenda, Maddalam & Chuttty as well as Bharathanatyam, Mohiniyattom, Kuchipudi, Ottenthullal, Chakyarkoothu, Koodiyattam, Thayambaka and Panchavadyam – Thimila, Maddalam, Edakka, Thalam & Kombu. The awardees has been selected through nominations received from the art lovers.
