Kottakkal Nandakumaran Nair

Born in 1948 at Desamangalam, Kottakkal Nandakumaran Nair is a much celebrated Kathakali actor and a follower of ‘Kalluvazhi Chitta’ in Kathakali tradition.  After schooling he joined Kerala Kalamandalam to learn Ottan Thullal. Later Nandakumaran Nair went to PSV Natya Sangam, Kottakkal and got trained in Kathakali. During his career as a Kathakali actor, he has been honoured with many awards including that of Kerala Sangeetha Nataka Akademi, Kerala Kalamandalam and the senior fellowship from Central Sangeet Natak Akademi, New Delhi. He resides now at Shornnur with his family. The 70^th birth day celebration is an honour given to him by his disciples, art fraternity and the public.

09.00am- Keli- percussion orchestration by Krishnapraveen Poduval, Panavoor Sreehari (Chenda), Kalamandalam Prashanth, Kslamandalam Sudheesh (Madhalam), Sreerag Varma, Palappuram Seepu (Elathalam), Palappuram Manoj (Valamthala/Chenda).

10.00am- Ceremonial meeting – speech by eminent personalities – honouring Kottakkal Nandakumaran Nair etc.

12.30pm- Cholliyattam- Lecture demo presented by Dr. C P Unnikrishnan along with RLV Pramod, Uma Kavungal (Actors), Kalamandalam Mohana Krishnan, Puralippuram Lakshmanan Nambuthiri (Singers), Kalamandalam Vijayakrishnan (Chenda percussionist) and Kalamandalam Prashanth (Madhalam).

02.00pm- Speech

03.30pm- Dance performance by Varsha P Udaya Kumar, Ardra Iyyani, Sreya Pramod.

04.30pm- Double Thayambala presented by Kalamandalam Balaraman and Panamanna Sashi.

06.30pm- Seethangan Thullal Kalamandalam Prabhakaran and team

07.30pm- Kathakali with Purappadu and Melappadam (Full night)

Stories: Nalacharitham Nalam Divasam, Ravanolbhavam, Subradraharanan (scenes of Bhalabhadrar and Sreekrishnan) and Kiratham.
