Art camp to support flood relief in Kerala


Kerala Lalithakala Akademi, an autonomous institution of Government of Kerala for the promotion of fine arts, conducted two day painting camp at Thiruvananthapuram on 5th and 6th September 2018, to support Kerala government to reform state havoc caused from flood that hit Kerala in August.

About 90 plus artists including B D Dathan and Kattoor Narayana Pillai participated in the camp and done their paintings free of cost. Many other artists offered their already drawn paintings, sculptures and photographs to the camp.  The two -day camp could collect over 300 paintings.  These paintings and sculptures are at display for sale at a uniform price of Rs.1500/- per painting. The amount so collected will be given to the Chief Minister’s Distress Relief Fund (CMDRF) for helping the affected to rebuild their lives.

The camp titled ‘Chitra Thanal’ held at Musuem compound , Thiruvananthapuram, was inaugurated by the noted sculptor Kanayi Kunjhiraman by drawing the portrait of the Oscar winner Resul Pookutty, the Sound designer from Kerala.  The artists’ group based at Thiruvannthapuram ‘SAP Green’ and the museum authorities extended their support in this noble mission.

 These paintings are at display for sale in the Museum gallery for a week from 10 Sept 2018.
