Kerala Travel Mart, one of the biggest
B2B meet in tourism, for the promotion of exclusive Kerala, India started on 18
September 2014 at Samudrika Convention Centre, Willingdon Island, Kochi, Kerala
. According to the officials of KTM, a total number of 282 international
delegates, including media persons and travel writers and 938 domestic
delegates are participating in the 3 day event. The activities
of the stakeholders of the responsible tourism initiatives from different parts
of Kerala showcased a village theme at the venue, which captured widespread
interest and attention. A seminar on the
Heritage destination Muziris was also held on the first day, as part of the
event.
The distinctive feature of this edition
of KTM is the participation from relatively new markets for Kerala, like
Australia, South Africa, Malaysia and a strong presence from Scandinavia,
Netherlands, Middle East, Eastern Europe and Latin American countries right
from Argentina, Brazil, Chile and Peru. However the major participation is from
UK, Spain, Germany France and Russia.
There are about 245 Sellers’/Exhibitors
from different categories like Hotels & Resorts, Tour operators & DMCs,
Homestays, Houseboat operators, Ayurveda Resorts, Ayurveda Centres, Hotel
Management consultants, Adventure tour operators, Farm stays, Tourism
associations, Tourism technology providers, Event managers, Amusement Parks, Convention Centres, Private
Museums, Speciality hospitals etc.
Chief Minister Oommen Chandy officially
inaugurated KTM 2014 on 17 Sept 2014 evening, in a function held at Le
Meridien, Kochi. The evening was rich with cultural programmes showcasing the
varied art forms of Kerala. The event will conclude
on 20 Sept 2014.
