Ahaana, an organization formed by the art lovers of Kolathur in Malappuram district of Kerala (India) is celebrating its first anniversary on 29 & 30 August 2015. The organization has made successful attempts to provide stages for both upcoming and well experienced artists to showcase their talents and thereby providing a platform for the art lovers of the region to gather and interact.
Ahaana, on the successful completion of one year, has organized various programs to celebrate the occasion. The programs will be inaugurated by Smt Vineetha Nedungadi, the Mohiniyattam exponent, at 06.00 pm on 29th of August.
Kumari Athira Giridharan, an upcoming Kathak dancer and a disciple of Pt.
Jai Kishan Maharaj, son of Pt. Birju Maharaj, the renowned Kathak dancer, will
perform Kathak on the first day after the inaugural session. Kathak is one
among the classical dance forms of India with its origin in North India. Athira
Giridharan is a freelance Kathak dancer who had performed in various festivals
including Kathak Mahotsav , the prestigious Kathak dance festival of India.
On the second day, 30 Aug, there will be Kathakali performance from 07.00 pm. Two
stories ‘Subhadraharanam’ and ‘DuryodhanaVadham’ will be presented. Eminent
artists like Padmashree Kalamandalam
Gopi, Kottakkal Chandrasekhara Warrier, Vellinezhi Haridas, Kalamandalam
Chinosh Balan , Kalamandalam Unnikrishnan, Kalamandalam Krishnadas, Sadanam
Bharatarajan etc. will participate.
