Thiruvathira Maholsavam, the festival, at Kaithali Mahadeva Temple, Pattambi will
be conducted from 03-11 Jan 2017. Besides rituals, classical dance and music
programs are also conducted on these days. Well-known artists from India will
perform in this 9- day festival.

Thiruvathira festival is conducted on Thiruvathira asterism in the month of Dhanu (Malayalam calendar). The festival, primarily for women, is a traditional festival connected with Lord Shiva. Women, mainly in Hindu community, perform ‘Thiruvathirakkali ‘ (dance) on this day.
Kaithali Sree Mahadeva temple at Pattambi is one among the temples which celebrates Thiruvathira Festival in a grand manner. The temple that is carved out in a single granite stone is unique in its architecture . It is a protected monument under the Archeological Survey of India .
