Natanakairali, the performing art centre based at Irinjalakkuda (Thrissur Dt.) organizes a series of Nangiarkoothu performances based on Sreekrishna Charitham, the story of Lord Krishna. The plan is to conduct 2-3 performances (approximately 2 hours) in different temple premises, which were traditionally been venues for Nangiarkoothu as ritual. The venue of the starting performance is Sree Poornathrayeesha Temple at Thrippunithura (Ernakulam Dt., Kerala). A total of about 35 performances will be organized as part of this series of performances and cover around 17 temples from different parts of Kerala as venues.
The solo performance of Nangiarkoothu is presented by Kapila Venu, a noted performer of Kutiyattam and Nangiarkoothu and the daughter of Kutiyattam performer and scholar G. Venu.
