Varsha Rithu art camp paintings on display at Kollam

Kerala Lalithakala Akademi organizing a painting exhibition at Eight point Art Café, Asramam, Kollam from 28 September 2018. These paintings are the creation of 26 artists who participated in an art camp held on 01-05 August 2018 at Medayil Tharavadu, the ancestral home of the great artist of the yore Medayil Raman Unnithan, Pallikkal, near Adoor in Pathanamthita district.

The art camp for select artists, titled ‘Varsha Rithu’ was organized by Lalithakala Akademi in association with Sap Green Art Group, Medayil Raman Unnithan Smaraka Lalithakala Padhana Kendram and Pallikkal Gramapanchayath. The camp also gave opportunity to student artists to interact with the senior artists and learn from them.

The artists participated in the camp were Anil Ashtamudi, K G Anilkumar, Binu Baby, Binu Kottarakkara, Baiju Elampallil, Gopidas A K, Gracy Philip, Jayaprakash Pazhayidam, Lincy Samuel, Manoj Mathasseril, Nisari Rajan, Prakash R, Pramod Kurambala, Prashath Ochira, T R Rajesh, Sajayakumar V, Sangeeth Shivan, Salini Alex, Sarath, R Sathish, Shenley, Sreejith V C, Usha, Thomas Kurian, Vani N M and Victoria A M. Their paintings will be on display till 15 Oct 2018.

Established in 1998, Medayil Raman Unnithan Smaraka Lalithakala Padhana Kendram in Pallikkal is an art school dedicated in memory of the artist Medayil Raman Unnithan (1900-1992) and is run by Pallikkal Gramapanchayath, the local self government. The heritage home Medayil Tharavadu is about 150 years old.
