11th edition of Kutiyattam festival organized by
Nepathya Centre for excellence in Kutiyattam at Moozhikkulam, near Aluva in
Ernakulam district, Kerala begins on 30 Dec 2018. The five day festival focuses
on the presentations of the 1st act of Kulasekhara’s Kutiyattam play ‘Thapathisamvaranam’.
The young artiste award for excellence in
Kutiyattam/Kathakali installed by Nepathya in memory of Late D Appukuttan Nair,
a scholar in Kathakali and Kutiyattam will also be distributed during the
festival. This year the award goes to Kalanilayam
Rajan, a talented Edakka percussionist in Kutiyattam.
